OPERATION SINDOOR: A GROUNDBREAKING MOMENT FOR INDIA’S CONVENTIONAL DETERRENCE

For a country that has always presented itself as a soft state with a clear reluctance to any form of conflict, “Operation Sindoor” was a breath of fresh air. It established a new normal, where proxy war will no longer be seen as a low-cost and low-intensity conflict strategy; rather, it will have a serious cost assigned to it. The most striking aspect of this operation was the fact that Terror HQ’s were struck belonging to LET, JEM, and HM rather than a simple desolated facility with few groundworkers. The op not only brought out the intricate Military-Jihadi complex in front of the whole world but also established the unprecedented reach of the Indian armed forces across the length and breadth of Pakistan.

The Trigger

BAISARAN VALLEY LAYOUT

There is an unwritten rule in the Kashmir Valley, irrespective of the situation of the region, nobody will target tourists cuz not only is tourism critical to the local economy, more so, Kashmiri culture holds tourists in the highest regard, and that might be the reason why there are few recorded incidents of terrorists either abducting or harming tourists. Even from an operational standpoint, the foundation of the terrorist recruitment strategies and operational tactics is entirely based on having a strong relationship with the awaam, and so if you look at the history of the insurgency, then public funerals for militants, use of social media as a tool for ideological brainwashing and madrasa sermons to create more sympathy for terrorists operating in the region are frequently observable. The purpose of such actions is to generate a wave of empathy for jihadi organization’s which eventually helps them in justifying their existence, recruit local boys as militants and OGW’s and use civilian residences as makeshift safehouses for their cadre. Hence, most terror organizations have refrained from targeting tourists as it may negatively impact their presence in the region and severely disrupt their recruitment cycles.

TRF INSIGNIA

Abrogation of Article 370 and consistent FATF scrutiny posed some very serious challenges to Pakistan-based terror groups, as business as usual was no longer a sustainable policy given the external pressure and falling domestic popularity, so a major workaround was crafted by these groups to operate in Kashmir without any external pressures. The biggest problem that Pakistan based terrorist organizations have Islamist identities are deeply embedded in their core, and so while their underlying objective might be to “Liberate” Kashmir however the Islamist nature of their structures and ideology makes them not only subject to massive foreign scrutiny (especially after 9/11) but also puts them consistently in contradiction with their stated aims or the recruitment materials. Furthermore, the Pakistani strategic doctrine is often to show these groups as rebels or freedom fighters; however presence of complete leadership positions in Pakistan and the inability to develop an organic/native insurgent group significantly weakens their narrative in front of the international community. However, as stated previously, Post-370, the Military-Jihadi complex found a major workaround to rectify these issues. Both JEM and LET created three specific splinter groups: TRF(The Resistance Front), PAFF(People Anti-Fascist Front), and KT(Kashmir Tigers), with TRF acting under the command of LET senior leadership(Sajjad Gul) while PAFF and KT acted under the command of JEM leadership. The move was aimed at secularizing the “Freedom Movement,” which could garner international sympathy like the PLO, and likewise, the Pakistani Leadership can exercise plausible deniability by projecting them as “Local Freedom Fighters” thereby helping them escape scrutiny.

Pir Panjal Range

Apart from the change in names, tactics were also radically transformed to outwit the security forces. The previous tactics used by these organizations were to have a strong urban presence in the region, which effectively meant that their area of operations was spread across the entire Kashmir valley from Downtown Srinagar to Awantipura, Kulgam, Pulwama etc thereby implying a larger concentration in South Kashmir However, due to high intensity CI/CT ops and depleting local recruitment coupled with strong local HUMINT of security forces drove TO’s out of the region eventually pushing them to upper reaches of North Kashmir and the Pir Panjal range. Recognizing the constraints, the TOs changed their approach in the region, given the fact that local recruitment was drying up, the onus of carrying out terror attacks fell on the foreign(Pakistani) cadre who were either in leadership positions or had very recently infiltrated into the valley. In 2020, when the Galwan crisis occurred, Indian troops that were deployed along both sides of the Pir Panjal range as part of the CI/CT grid were taken out of the region and were ordered to mobilize to the LAC. This effectively left a major intelligence void in that space, which was then exploited by FTs by recruiting locals as OGWs either for money or by the threat of death. Most TOs had batches of FTs move across the forested region and campaign in caves, essentially giving them a strong cover to remain undetected from the security forces. Most of the FTs that are operating in the region are ex-SSG or ex-Pak Army, making them experts in combat tactics and masking their movement. This, coupled with local OGWs that were being indirectly operated (No direct or limited engagement of FTs with these assets), further provided them critical information about their area of operation, which included infiltration and exfiltration routes within the forests. With a strong local intel in place, both TRF and PAFF started carrying out identical ambushes where they would choose a location fairly close to the forest, and so as soon as they would spot a convoy, they would spray it with bullets(anti-armor rounds) to inflict maximum damage and within minutes they would escape to the forests having complete knowledge of their exfil routes. For security forces, these tactics posed a serious challenge for several reasons. Firstly, the foliage in that region is extremely thick, making it very difficult to trace and pinpoint the exact location where these elements were hiding. This effectively ruled out drone surveillance, given the difficulty of the topography in that area. Thus, the only option that security forces were forced to use was to have boots on the ground and establish a large search parameter (CASA), which then meant that SFs would have to traverse through the forest to identify the hostile positions this placing them at a significant disadvantage primarily because in the forests the enemy is at the advantage as they can easily monitor SF movement due to sound of the boots allowing them to escape in case the troops get close to interception.

PAHALGAM ATTACK MODULE

On 22nd April 2025, the long-standing rule was violated by TRF in the most brutal and heinous way possible. A batch of 5 TRF terrorists, headed by Hashim Musa A.K.A Suleiman Shah, stormed through Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, which was a famous terrorist spot, and shot 26 innocent tourists in broad daylight. This was an extremely well-planned attack, as the terrorists were not only well aware of the layout of the entire area, but they were also well versed with the fact that given the valley is isolated and at an elevation, coupled with a lack of road connectivity, it will take significant amount of time for security forces to reach that area which will be sufficient for the terrorists to complete there ops and then escape into the near by forest (similar ambush pattern). The attack was egregious not only in the way it was carried out, but also had significant communal connotations, where people were shot based on their religious identities. The intent was clear: to create a major communal divide within the country and destabilize it further. The attackers had strong local support, feeding them intel about the area, including entry and exit points, but also providing them shelter to hide, which can be further validated by the recent arrests of two Pahalgam locals accused of housing these terrorists. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, a large cordon and search operation was launched to hunt down the terror module and twice the SFs were able to bust their hideouts; however, due to topographical constraints, the attackers were able to escape.

A FEROCIOUS PAYBACK

MARKAZ SUBHANALLAH STRIKE SNAPSHOT

While a series of non-kinetic actions were undertaken by the government against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack yet it was fairly clear that a strong and unprecedented kinetic action was in the offing. What followed was a series of deliberations that were held between the political leadership and the national security apparatus to chart out India’s response. It’s imperative to understand that any response needs to be calibrated, should have an element of surprise, and most importantly, should deliver the necessary message that there will be a high cost to asymmetric warfare

And so on 7th May 2025 at around 0145 hours, India struck 9 locations, encapsulating 21 targets across POK and Mainland Pakistan. These locations included targets of various orientations, like Command Headquarters, Makeshift Training Centres, and Forward Area Launchpads. Amongst the 9 target LOC, 7 target LOC were attacked by the Indian Army using UCAV, Loitering Munitions, while 2 major command target LOC were struck by the Indian Air Force using SCALPS and Hammer payloads from IAF Rafales. All the targets were struck with complete precision, and the strike eventually led to the elimination of about 100 terrorists, with the most notable HVT kill being Rauf Azhar, who was directly responsible for the killing of Daniel Pearl and multiple JEM terrorist attacks in India. While there were a number of fascinating aspects of this strike, however, the most unprecedented and audacious aspect of this strike was the attack on Bahawalpur and Muridke, which were for far too long considered impregnable fortresses however those silos were broken in this strike and India annihilated the command HQs of JEM and LET in a single strike.

MARKAZ SUBHANALLAH BHAWALPUR

MARKAZ SUBHANALLAH SATELLITE IMAGE

Markaz Subhanallah is a 4.5-acre compound located at the outskirts of Bahawalpur and sits adjacent to the Bahawalpur-Karachi highway. It was inaugurated in 2009 and serves as the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammad(JEM). Ahmad Nayeem, a resident of Bahawalpur, sold this property to Rauf Azhar and his partner, Rashid Ahmed, on 23rd March 2009 for PKR 1.5 Million. Since then, this property has become a sprawling complex, having the ability to house about 12,000 students. The facility consists of a swimming pool, a horse stable, a military depot, recreational slides, and millions of dollars worth of SUVs and antiques. Apart from this, there is a network of tunnels that the facility holds for unknown reasons. Most importantly, this facility also functions as the home of some high-ranking JEM members like Masood Azhar (Emir), Mufti Rauf Asghar(De Facto head and Chief of Operations), and their families. The facility is strategically located as Bahawalpur is socio-economically one of the poorest regions in Pakistan; hence, given the range of facilities that the complex offers, it attracts a large number of kids who are eventually brainwashed and recruited for JEM operations in India. The Markaz was maintained and used to be under the charge of Hafiz Jameel (A close relative of the Azhar Family, killed in Indian Strikes). Several terrorist attacks have been planned and orchestrated by JEM leaders from this facility, and the preliminary phase of the terror training that happens in JEM involving hardline Islamic radicalisation takes place at this facility

The above images are simply the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the evidence that validates the complicity of this facility in terrorism against India. In the first image, it can be observed that the attackers of Nagrota Army Camp visited the JEM headquarters to meet with Mufti Rauf Asghar to negotiate financial aid to carry out attacks in Kashmir, eventually culminating in the Nagrota Attack. All the nephews of Masood Azhar: Talha Rasheed, Usman Haider, and Mohammad Umar Farooq, who were killed in Kashmir, received ideological training from this facility. A snapshot of the Alvi brothers enjoying the swimming pool in JEM HQ is visible above. The most notorious of them was Umar Farooq, who was the head of the IED module, which was responsible for carrying out the Pulwama Attacks. He was born in Bahawalpur and spent most of his childhood in this facility, getting brainwashed by the hateful sermons of Masood Azhar.

POST STRIKE SATELLITE IMAGE

In the ensuing strikes, there were 5 impact hits by the Indian munitions at different complexes in the entire target system. The individual complexes that were struck aligned effectively with the strike philosophy, which was to eliminate HVTs, and these locations served as shelter points of JEM leadership. This resulted in the elimination of 14 close family members and associates of Masood Azhar which included his sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and some crucial associates like Yusuf Azhar and Rauf Azhar.

MARKAZ TAIBA MURIDKE

SATELLITE ANALYSIS OF MARAKAZ TAIBA PRE AND POST STRIKES

Markaz Taiba acts as the operational headquarters of Lashkar-e-Tayeba, which is also the parent organization of TRF. This facility was established in 2001 and was funded by the then Emir of Al-Qaeda: Osama bin Laden. Apart from the operational decisions undertaken by LET leadership, the facility is also used for the preliminary training stage, “Daura-e-Sufa,” involving LET cadre. This stage focuses primarily on indoctrination and physical conditioning of terrorists. Markaz Taiba also houses some of the important LET leaders, like Abdul Rehman Makki (Involved in 26/11 planning), Mudassar Ahmed(LET J&K operations head killed in Indian strikes) etc.

UNSC 1267 SANCTIONS COMMITTEE EXPLICITLY MENTIONS MARKAZ TAIBA IN MAKKIS LISTING PROFILE

Markaz Taiba was instrumental in orchestrating the attacks of 26/11. The only terrorist that was caught, ‘Ajmal Kasab’ was recruited from Muridke, and all the attackers underwent “Daura-e-Sufa” at the same facility. Apart from this, both David Headley and Tahawwur Rana were in close contact with the leadership in Muridke, and David Headley even had an in-person meeting with them at LET HQ. All the handlers of the 26/11 attacks, including Zaki-ur-Rehman-Lakhvi, Sajid Mir, Muzammil, Abdul Rehman Lakhvi, etc., were handpicked by Hafiz Sayed (Emir of LET) at Muridke.

EXCERPT FROM THE OFFICIAL 26/11 CHARGESHEET MENTIONING MURIDKE

In the ensuing strike at Markaz Taiba, 4-5 Munitions were dropped, each having different impact points across the entire Muridke target system, leading to complete flattening of those target complexes and elimination of major terrorists.

ESCALATION SPIRAL

Indian Strikes were precise, calibrated, and non-escalatory in nature, as no Pakistani military installation was targeted; however, generally, before carrying out such an audacious air offensive, the ideal military strategy is to carry out SEAD(Suppression of enemy air defense) and DEAD(Destruction of enemy air defense) which involves destroying enemy air defense assets to prevent any detection or interception from hostile enemy aerial vectors. Yet on that fateful day, due to the constraint of not targeting military facilities, the enemy airspace was crowded with hostile vectors, which eventually led to an aerial engagement that unfortunately led to some losses on the Indian Side, yet despite this tactical obstacle, the Indian armed forces managed to carry out precise air strikes without any interception from the enemy air defense which itself was a major success.

On the night of 7th,8th, and 9th May, Pakistan Launched Saturation drone strikes that consisted of quadcopters, UAV’s and Armed UCAVs, which targeted Indian Military and Civilian installations. The primary purpose of these strikes was to exhaust the Indian Air Defense and to identify the locations of Indian radar systems and air defense batteries; however, these strikes were successfully thwarted by IACCS and Indian AD assets. In response to such strikes, India on 8th May launched a wave of Harpy Drones to target Pakistani AD systems, which led to the successful destruction of HQ-9 AD battery at Lahore, LY-70 battery in Muzaffarabad, and destruction of Pakistani Stealth Radars at different sites. This massive assault on the Pakistani Air defense system led to saturation of their air defense systems within two days. What followed was a lethal strike that was beyond imagination.

FINAL STRIKE

INDIAN STRIKE POINTS IN PAKISTAN

Indian actions were strictly controlled by the Escalation Control Mechanism, which essentially meant that while India had no intention of escalating the conflict, as it had already fulfilled its strategic objectives, however, if Pakistan refused any off-ramp and kept its foot on the escalation pedal, then India would significantly increase escalation levels to a point where Pakistan is forced to take an diplomatic off ramp and as part of this strategy after successfully intercepting continuous waves of Pakistani Drone Strikes, India bombed 12 Pakistani Airbases on the intervening night of 9th and 10th and then on the morning of 10th. The first tranche of the Indian offensive targeted Nur Khan(Chaklala), Rafiqui, and about 3-4 more PAF bases. The biggest highlight of this offensive was the attack at Nur Khan, which is considered the crown jewel of PAF and is in extremely close proximity to both GHQ Rawalpindi and Central Nuclear Command. Reportedly, the strike was so big that the Pakistani COAS was forced to call the Pakistani PM, who then lobbied foreign partners to stop the Indian Offensive. A wide range of weapons were used in this strike, which included Brahmos, Rampage, and SCALP that caused significant damage to PAF Assets and Command centers.

The second tranche of the Indian offensive came in response to the failed Pakistani Operation “Bunyan-al-Marsoos”. India targeted critical PAF forward bases which included Bholari, Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Sargodha, and radar sites at specific locations. The strike in Bholari was the most destructive as it led to the destruction of a PAF AWAC and 4 PAF officials being eliminated in the process. Rigorous Indian offensive eventually forced the Pakistani DGMO to establish contact with the Indian DGMO to discuss cessation of hostilities, and so after the communication at 1545 hours ceasefire came into force at 1700 hours.

FUTURE AHEAD

OPERATION SINDOOR

Operation Sindoor will be a watershed moment in India’s conventional deterrence doctrine. Not only did the op call off the bluff of the Pakistani Nuclear Sabre-Rattling, but also established the fact that there is sufficient space for conventional operations under the Nuclear Umbrella. It broke the myth that terrorist leaderships can operate with impunity across the border and are safe in their HQs. No longer is proxy war a low-cost affair; on the contrary, it will force the Pakistani deep state to re-evaluate its tactics, as any asymmetric offensive will lead to a high cost for the mainland. While the strikes were significant, they also brought about a range of lessons that India will need to integrate into its playbook to approach future conflicts. One of the biggest laggard for India post-operation was our abysmal Information Warfare, while India was able to significantly shield its population from Pakistani misinformation machinery, however, it failed in setting the narrative across the world. Pakistani ISPR are expert in IW and so exploiting the Information void left by India, it expertly crafted the global narrative around Indian losses, and given India’s lack of strategy to tackle it, we are operating in ambiguity where at home there is radio silence on this issue while Indian military leadership is providing bits of information to foreign platforms this has inadvertently led to narrative completely pivoting to aerial engagement rather than the underlying objectives of the strike and the intricate Pakistani Military Jihad complex. In any military operation, losses will always happen. There is no harm in acknowledging them as it aids in rectifying tactics and identifies the necessary tech integration required to prevent such losses from reoccurring in a future conflict. However, both political parties and civilians have to grow some sensitivity to understand that any platform loss is a critical piece of information that can’t be revealed willy-nilly in open source, as it can have a significant impact on combat tactics and morale. Yet it’s very sad to see rather than celebrate the strategic objectives that were fulfilled by this operation and the message it delivered, the discourse is entirely focused on lamenting tactical errors, and inadvertently, there is an attempt to undermine the credentials and competence of our Armed Forces. While no doubt tactical losses did occur, however, the ability to operate and carry out precise strikes within the constraints makes the performance of the Indian Armed Forces exceptional, and so there can be no fingers that can be pointed to their credibility.

RAFALE IN ACTION

Cutting across all the noise, the most pivotal achievement of Operation Sindoor is the creation of a new normal in India’s strategic calculus. The green light from the top leadership on India’s new strategic doctrine is Monumental. Highlighting the fact that India won’t make any differentiation between proxy organizations and their backers by the top leadership is a game-changer as not only will this ensure that next time a conflict occurs, there won’t be any constraints to carry out SEAD ops, increasing the lethality of Indian response multifold. Furthermore, the policy of ” Any act of terrorism will be an act of war” will make the cost-benefit analysis of asymmetric warfare extremely difficult for ISI.

Even if the Pakistani “Bleed India with a Thousand Cuts” doesn’t halt, the Idea that India can amputate Pakistan in response makes the equation extremely precarious and interesting, and who knows, in Sindoor 2.0 Navy might get an opportunity to see some action cuz the last time they went into a war a new country was created.

TALIBAN,FUNDAMENTALISM AND WOMEN

WHY ARE WOMEN SCAPEGOATS OF RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM?

There is no better time to ask this question and as Taliban storms through Afghanistan the tragic memories of Talibanisation are coming back to haunt the people of Afghanistan and more so the women .But this brings us back to our question that why is misogyny and women repression so extreme in failed states because it’s not just Afghanistan this is a distinct pattern which can be observed across battlefields. In general there are two components to the answer the first one relates to the position of women in the social hierarchy and the second one deals with ideology and religion. Women have long history of suffrage they have fought extremely hard against cultural bias and discrimination to achieve basic rights be it universal adult franchise or right to education however even in the most developed countries women still aren’t safe and prosperous so within the framework of disparity it becomes extremely evident that what would be the position of women in failed states like Syria , Afghanistan and Iraq. These states are heavily conservative and believe women as toys who they can control .But there is another component to it and that’s far more concerning because religion and ideology are the drivers of stereotype and in these patriarchal societies religion has become a tool for women suppression until such religious ideology is never discarded world can never be a better place for women which itself means that there will be no signs of humanity.

HYPOCRICY OF CALIPHATE

A Few thousand kilometers from Afghanistan lies Syria a place which was the epicenter of ISIS blitzkrieg. As ISIS started conquering districts across middle east it laid down guidelines for it’s citizens on the basis of sharia Law and women were the primary targets there movements were restricted and anyone laying eyes on a women would be executed yet the hypocrisy of it lies with the fact that as ISIS ravaged through towns it picked up girls. A more disgusting case lies of the girls belonging to Yazidi Community. The ISIS considered Yazidis as devil worshippers and so they have been responsible for carrying out a genocide of Yazidis and at the forefront of it are women. Yazidi women were used as “Sex Slaves” they were forced to convert ,raped and kept as slaves to be passed on among savages, Many couldn’t survive but those who were successful in escaping narrated the horrors that they faced and saw.

NIDA MURAD

TALIBAN,MALALA AND RELIGIOUS CLERICS

STONING WOMEN TO DEATH AND EXECUTIONS WERE PRETTY COMMON UNDER TALIBAN REGIME

Taliban has a long history of being extremely regressive towards women under it’s first rule the society was basically patriarchy on steroids. Women were not allowed to go alone without a male “guardian”. They weren’t allowed to receive education which is basically reflected from Afghanistan women literacy rate which is mere 29.8 % they were strictly instructed to cover themselves and love was prohibited and those women who violated these rules were stoned to death . Those who have little understanding of Afghanistan know that it was a very liberal society in 1980’s however all of this changed with the evolution of Taliban and Rise of Islam in it’s surroundings. Even in the then Taliban controlled parts of Pakistan women were oppressed and the prime example of it was Malala Yusufzai who was shot as she wanted to go to school while education was prohibited for girls. Religious Clerics instigated militants and political leaders to direct terms of how a women should behave and that her responsibility is child bearing for Jihad.

A CAUSE OF CONCERN

We are observing a major humanitarian crisis unraveling in front of us in Afghanistan . Americans have received a shameful defeat and they just want to bring back their soldiers home they have zero apathy for the people of Afghanistan. While its difficult to understand what really does this peace process intends to achieve however an extremely striking fact is the representation of women in either Nation Reconciliation council or for that matter America which is the stakeholder that as we thought had the teeth to dictate terms to Taliban Emirate. There has been no conversation in the peace process regarding the safety and rights of women in Post American pullout Afghanistan . While its clear that laying terms on Taliban to prevent restrictions on women is futile as it hasn’t even fulfilled the basic condition of accord which was to stop the violence and prevent providing safe havens to terrorist groups like ISIL.

TERROR ATTACK ON A GIRLS SCHOOL

Taliban is stronger than ever and Biden simply wants his troops to be back his intelligence is well aware that Kabul will fall and once it does women will bear the brunt of it there struggle will have no meaning as they will be drawn back in stone ages by those religious fanatics. Taliban fears educated women as it well understands that questions cannot be suppressed by guns however its clear that it will dictate the social structure of society which pretty much means “HELL FOR FEMALES”. It pains me to see that flagbearers of feminism are quiet while women are being pushed towards oppression in Afghanistan.

A THOUGHT

“RAPES ARE INSTRUMENT OF WARS” this is not just an observation but a reality. In the movie Padmavat the queen pushes herself into fire to protect her sanctity unfortunately nothing has changed the only thing that has changed is that today we all stand as spectators while these savages come for our mother and daughters. Difficult to find difference between civilized societies and fringe groups like these. Shame is small word for us now as the narrative stands political heads blame women for violence and rape to which they are subjected . Why women are the scapegoats? The answer is our silence and lost moral conscience ,

A MIRROR

In essence mirror brings a lot to our life in spite of the fact that it is heavily underrated . A mirror is your true friend it will show what you are without trying to butter you but for sure we don’t like it. We have been bought up in a world where materialistic qualities like beauty are preferred over vibrant souls. This convention makes us more prone to do things which cater to these demands. You might lie to a mirror on your external characteristics but the soul mirror cannot be fooled. Deep down you know who you are and the fact of the matter is you can’t fight it. A day arrives your breaking point and you keep a mirror in front of yourselves and the only thing you expect from the mirror is plain truth. There is a sense of satisfaction in knowing who you are good or bad it doesn’t matter. Good gives you happiness and the Bad opens a window to improve. Wait! I am not here to motivate you but I am here to keep a mirror in front of our society. Accepting oneself truly itself is a herculean task and here I am talking about accepting the truth about our country. Its surreal I realize that but I am not talking about changing the society I am simply writing to kickstart a conversation.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF DISHA RAVI

This young girl was at the forefront of sensationalism created by our so called “news” networks. Allegedly she was conspiring with the Khalistanis and was involved in inciting the violence which occurred on 26th January at the Red Fort . All of these charges were based on a toolkit which was shared by a Climate activist in relation to the ongoing Farmers protest which Disha edited. This young girl was picked up by the authorities on the basis of this charge. Initially I refrained myself from giving an opinion on this issue as I wanted to see how it plays out because I felt that certainly Delhi Police would have some really good evidence against her . One day I was going through my twitter thread and an elderly personnel commented that how can parents support youngsters engaging in activism and he also advised the youth to focus on their carriers rather than engaging in such “anti-state ” activities. When we were a kid one of the first things we are taught is standing for what is right our history lessons contain stories about our freedom struggle and about individuals who fought against the British for our independence. But that single person raised a major question on our education system as well as our society. In reality there are very few individuals who actually raise their voices against something wrong and rather than engaging our tolerance towards accepting a different frame of thinking is so less that we start giving labels like ‘Bhakts’ or ‘Anti- Nationals’ . But the thing that shocked me the most was that DP based it’s entire case against Disha on conjectures. The Girl was arrested because she had a conversation with Mo Dhaliwal thus making her a Khalistani confederate. This was so bewildering that even the judge presiding over the case had to point out the fact that the job of the police is to investigate and provide evidence but not to provide conspiracy theories. Disha is the fallout of a judicial inability to differ between dissent and sedition . This loophole is avidly exploited by the state consider this Section 124A(Sedition act) overrides Article 19 and through Section 43D of UAPA any individual can be sent to Jail without any legal trial up to 6 months. Again I never advocate absolute freedom of speech but there is no barometer to measure sedition. In practicality even if you speak against rising fuel prices you can be booked under 124A. So I make you a mirror and ask a question irrespective of whatever ideology you support is curbing dissent in the name of Sedition by the state tolerable for you .Because consider this today you might support this practice but sooner or later when injustice reaches your door you would realize it’s ills.

THE FIDAYEEN CONSPIRACY

AS THE 7TH CONVICT RESPONSIBLE FOR PULWAMA ATTACKS IS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY NIA . THE FACTS WHICH HAVE CAME OUT FROM THIS INVESTIGATION TILL NOW PROVE THE FACT THAT IT WAS A SOPHISTICATED STATE STIMULATED OP AND NOT THE WORK OF A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL.

WHY AND HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

The story starts back in 2015 when after a very long time of peace and Tranquility Kashmir witnessed unrest. This coincided with Comprehensive Peace talks which were happening between India and Pakistan as both sides were resolute to sustain peace in spite of recurring terrorist attacks in India. The State actors of Pakistan considered it as a golden opportunity and instigated violence across the state at the same time the massive militant recruitment happened both in the hinterland and in Pakistan. The situation further deteriorated in 2016 when large scale infiltration happened in Kashmir and at the same time many pinpointed strikes were carried out by militant organisations against security forces. All of this culminated into Uri attacks which acted as a turning point strategically. After the attacks it was clearly felt that a change of strategy is required and hence in 2017 Operation All Out was launched which was a tactical intelligence based operation whose clear objective was to flush out militancy completely from the state. The strategy consisted of redeployment of troops across LOC to tackle infiltration and intensified Cordon and search operations in the hinterland . At the same time NIA undertook custody of many separatist leaders and members of civil society involved in money laundering which further hampered the terror outfits

Statistics of militants killed after launch of OAO

In the same links Talha Rasheed nephew of Masood Azhar was eliminated in 2017 however the biggest provocation was the elimination of another nephew of his Mohd. Usman in October 2018 .Jaish being the most important state asset of Pakistan in Kashmir thus it was essential to establish credibility that it is still relevant in Kashmir yet it was more of a personal revenge for Azhar.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

In mid April back in 2018 a millitant infiltrated into Kashmir .He went by the name of Mohommad Umar Farooq and was an IED expert who by the way had also fought in Afghan Jihad . A local Kashmiri dissident Mohd.Iqbal Rather facilitated his movement after he infiltrated into the Indian Territory in Jammu region. Farooq was a key conspirator in the case. Then in December 2018 another IED expert and Afghan Jihad veteran going by the name Ghazi Rasheed AKA Kamran infiltrated into the valley.

Ghazi Rasheed

Another Key conspirator was Bilal Ahmed Kuchey he owned a sawmill and lived in Kakapora he provided safe havens to some of the Key militants involved in this attack . He provided the JEM terrorists with high end mobile phones which was used by them to be in contact with leadership in Pakistan as well among themselves to give final touches to their planning and execution of the attack. Further the mobile phone provided by him was also used to record the video clip of Adil Dar .

Shakir Ahmed Magray

He was a Jaish operative in the valley who on several previous occasions had collected and delivered arms and cash and other explosive material to various JEM militants in Kahmir. Shakir harbored Waqas Commando AKA Adil Dar and Farooq in his house in 2018 and 2019.A furniture shop owner, Shakir Bashir Magrey also provided logistical help to suicide-bomber Adil Ahmad Dar. He was introduced to Adil Ahmad Dar in mid-2018 by Farooq after which he became a full-time over-ground worker of JeM. Magrey’s shop is located near Lethpora Bridge, and as advised by Mohammad Umar, he started carrying out a reconnaissance of the movement of CRPF convoys on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in January 2019. Sajjad Ahmed Bhat owned a Maruti Eeco which was modified by Magray and was fitted with explosives. The explosives used in the attack were found to be Ammonium Nitrate, Nitro-Glycerin and RDX through forensic investigation. The chemicals used for the attack were ordered by Magrey through Amazon .

Qari Yaseer was also an IED expert one of the Key conspirator of the attack as the commander of Jaish in Pulwama he was responsible for logistical movement and further planning of the attacks
MOHAMMAD UMAR FAROOQ

MAIN CONSPIRATOR

Adil Ahmed Dar

One of the three sons of a small vendor, Dar dropped out of Class XII in 2017 and started working at a sawmill owned by a neighbour, according to a report. His house was barely 10 kilometres from the site of the attack. On March 19, 2018, a year after joining the sawmill, Dar went missing along with two friends Tauseef and Waseem. Tauseef’s elder brother Manzoor Ahmad Dar was a terrorist who was killed in 2016. Dar’s family filed a missing person report at the local police station.

A few days later, Dar was found — on social media as Waqas Commando. He brandished an AK-47 in a photo circulating on social media. Two months before he joined JeM, two local terrorists Fardeen Ahmad Khanday and Manzoor Baba were killed during an attack on a CRPF camp at Lethpora. In 2016, Dar was shot in the leg when he took part in the protests against the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.

Dar was trained by Ghazi and Farooq in handling of IED as well how he had to execute the mission. And so on 14th February 2019 a car ladden with hundreds of Kg’s of explosives rammed into a CRPF convoy .In this attack 40 of our brave soldiers attained Martyrdom.

THE INTERNAL MOLE

DSP DEVINDER SINGH

This is probably the most worrisome and infuriating character of this plot . Even though Devinder Singh is being prosecuted for a different case related to HM commander Naveen Babu. Singh was posted in Pulwama during the attacks. Singh was in constant touch with Pakistan High Commision officials and his associate Irfan Shafi Mir was in contact with ISI agents namely Sohail Abbas , Usman Cheema thus it is highly possible that Singh may have had shared Intel regarding convoy movement timings and date. He is currently under investigation so not much information is available to establish any links of him with Pulwama .Yet his presence post a lot of questions.

PAN ISLAMIC INFLUENCE

Wahabism has superseded everything in Kashmir and what used to be a struggle for “Independence” can be now be romanticized in a simple sentence “Ghazi of Kashmir will attain martyrdom for Islam”.The Pan Islamic influence first entered Kashmir after Afghan Mujahideen decimated soviets such that they had to leave in 1989 from Afghanistan. This established a sense that mujahideens under the umbrella of Islam have defeated a super power . This has led to fanaticism entering the society in addition to this individuals who fought the war were diverted to Kashmir this further helped in catalyzing political Islam in the hearts of Kashmir. The first step of Islamic Universalism was to eliminate non believers in Kashmiri soceity . So in 1990 Kashmiri Muslims under the noises of loud speakers calling for establishing a Free Kashmir with the women of pandits. Kashmiri Pandits were given options either to convert or die from Kalashnikov . Lakhs migrated whereas thousands were killied and many women were raped mercilessly . After this was achieved the soceity was completely transformed into wahabist soceity . By the same time Pakistan started providing training in POK to local Kashmiris like Mushtaq Zargar etc. Further using the Pan Islamic component state assets like Jaish, Al-Badr , Harkat, Allahs Tigers, Lashkar etc.The Ideological component was completely based on fighting against the so called Hindu state and Army and to transform Kashmir into a Sharia state. Further to eliminate non believers. As we stand today nothing has changed Pandits living in Kashmir are shot dead by militants who term them as Hindu agents(RSS) and today no Kahmiri Rebel organisation operates in valley rather organisations like ANSAR, ISJK have taken the Islamic component to the next level. The most disturbing fact is establishment of a ISJK province in Kashmir . However youth being allured to ISIS is not astonishing as the society is well adapted to it so in spite of whatever we say that the youth must be shown the right direction there is extensive religious indoctrination within the society from an elder to a small kid.

JAISH AND WHAT IT WANTS

Jaish-e-Mohammed literally “The Army of Muhammad” is abbreviated as JeM is a Pakistan-based[1]Deobandi jihadist Islamic Mujahideen group active in Kashmir. It portrays Kashmir as a “gateway” to the entire India, whose Muslims are also deemed to be in need of liberation. After liberating Kashmir, it aims to carry its ‘Jihad’ to other parts of India, with an intent to drive Hindus and other non-Muslims from the Indian subcontinent. This might sound insane but this is a small part of the groups of idealogue .Further what it intends to do is to take over parts which used to be governed by muslims 1000 years ago in sub continent as the infidels(non muslims) have by hoax occupied them. This ideology may sound colonial how ever this has attracted youth in different areas

Masood Azhar after abborogation of article 370
JAISH ARCHIVES
SHAKIR MAGEY A MEMBER OF ISJK WAS ELIMINATED IN KASHMIR

REALITY

Pulwama attack was an Pakistani conspiracy however it is an example of fallout of Islamicization. If you have seen the video of Dar he talked about the fact that Jaish has done things to “Cow Urine Drinkers” alleged reference to Hindus which scares them. He talked about Islamic Jihad and how they intend to eliminate non believers however the most interesting thing which stated that America pulling out of Afghanistan and Talibani victory proves that Muslims should join in this jihad . There was no reference to human rights or even Hurriyat or people of Kashmir yet it felt as if an radical Islamic cleric was giving a speech.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong stands as a model struggle against a fascist state which has eliminated fundamental rights .Religion has no involvement in this struggle. Even the state they are fighting against has only communism as religion. Azadi does not exist .It is a lie spoken in mainstream media by communists who cry for plebecite day and night. When Religion has completely taken basis of a nobel struggle against whatsover and rather than looking at the positives of religion you fight with negatives the struggle is doomed for certain and thats what has happened in Kashmir.

WHY THE INDIAN ELEPHANT AND CHINESE DRAGON CAN’T DANCE TOGETHER. IS IT THE BEST TIME FOR A GEOPOLITICAL MANEUVER.

DOES THE CHINESE AGRESSION ACTUALLY HAVE SUBSTANCE OR IS IT JUST PSYCHOLOGICAL TACTICS?

THE CCP IS FRUSTRATED AS IT CRUMBLES AGAINST THE INTERNATIONAL BACKLASH FOR IT’S MISHANDLING OF COVID-19 AND IT’S RECENT AGRESSIONS AGAINST DISPUTED TERRITORIES.

China is facing major diplomatic isolation. For the first time the world is coming together to make China accountable for its blatant misadventures and an expansionist mindset. At the same time internally it is facing a stability crisis . The CCP fears that pro democratic and Anti establishment voices even though stiffled by restrictions and surveillance are becoming more stronger. And thus CCP has picked the best move to divert attention both internally and internationally by engaging in aggressive standoff

UNDERSTANDING POINTS OF CONFRONTATION

1)LAC BUT MORE PROACTIVELY EASTERN LADAKH

Psang So Lake in Eastern Ladakh. The primary point of confrontation has been the Galwan region which has witnessed a heavy troop buildup by the Chinese

India and China share a border of around 3500 km. Yet fascinatingly unlike the LOC or the International Border the LAC is not demarcated which critically means that there is no theoretical decided border between India and China. This problem can be primarily credited to different perceptions of boundary lines on both the sides. To make it more clear both the sides have perceptions about the border line inside 2-3 Km of currently withholding territories on both the sides at certain areas. At the same time both the sides have territorial claims like legally Aksai Chin the part currently under occupation of China is a part of Acceded territory of Jammu and Kashmir to India. Whereas the Chinese claim ( without any legal declaration or an signed agreement) that Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim,Ladakh are Chinese territories.China taking advantage of this border conundrum implements it’s expansionist agenda by ingressing deep into Indian territories constantly. China has implemented a similar tactical move by amassing troops and BMV’s in the Galwan peninsula of Eastern Ladakh according to confirm reports and OSINT around 5000 troops have moved between finger 4 and finger 5 which is a disputed region. Apart from this troop deployment China has installed heavy machinery including Artillery batteries, Tanks. Simultaneously it has also increased sorties of J-11’s and Chinese Helicopter’s. What makes this interesting is China has opened 3 new points of ingression which were mutually undisputed.

1.1) WHY THIS AGGRESSION AND CALIBRATION OF MILLITARY RESPONSE?

India has been very weak in infrastructure development and we have never focussed on building strategic assets. However in the past 6 years there has been a major impetus given towards infrastructure development in border areas and more specifically Northeast. In Ladakh India has been ramping up construction of roads and bridges to move strategic assets and for faster deployment of troops along the Line of actual control. The flag bearer of this has been the BRO. It has set an extremely ambitious target of building 66 strategic Roads along LAC by 2022.However what has caused this showdown is a road constructed Dyob-Shyok- Daulat Begh Oldi link which connects India’ s strategic air asset of Daulat Begh Oldi. This was one of the primary reason which enraged Chinese establishment. Another factor to add in is the establishment of Ladakh as a Union Territory which was one of the primary reason why China pushed in Pakistani agenda of involving members of UNSC in discussing Kashmir. Yet India’s nationalistic approach and growing financial prowess which is spot of attraction for companies moving out of China has further triggered CCP.

MILITARY MECHANISM

It is very important to understand the fact that this ingression was not planned or implemented by local commanders. It for sure had the blessings of Beijing. India has been steadily analysing the situation and likewise has gone for mirror deployment which is it has increased the number of troops along disputed areas to match the concentration of Chinese troops and simultaneously it has rapidly gone for uniformed deployment of heavy machinery including tanks and heavy artillery. The IAF has increased surveillance along the areas to monitor any Chinese infiltration. What all of this signifies is the fact that both the sides are preparing for a long skirmish. But there is another symbolic part of this event. The Chinese deployment has relatively low substance but it has more to do with psychologically defeating the enemy to push it backwards. Ladakh is not a freebie even China realises it. Post Kargil war the domain of Northern Command was expanded with establishment of 14 corps in Leh apart from 15 corps in Nagrota. India not only has expanded its troop concentration in the region but the deployment of Mechanized infantry, Tank regiments and Aerial surveillance assets has strengthened it’s defences. The Introduction of IBG’s has also given an upper hand to India another interesting thing that we have to understand is the fact that China faces relative disadvantage in terms of COT. China comprehends the fact that it is not the 1962 India which it can take advantage of. Hence the major part of the deployment has to deal with psycho ops to push India back and gain more territory to be at a stronger position at the negotiation table.Logically its a game of resolve and who back downs first. Wether there is something more nefarious to this the answer only lies in the future.

2) HONG KONG, TAIWAN AND THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

PRO DEMOCRACY ACTIVISTS PROTESTING IN HONG KONG

Before 1990’s Hong Kong was a British territory however as it left the territory it signed an agreement with China of transferring it’s control to the CCP yet this was conditional as the British government placed a clause within the agreement that the full inclusion of Hong Kong will happen with China in 2047 till then China has to consider it as an autonomous territory with full rights which included right to expression and a democratically elected government. China willfully agreed to it has Hong Kong was extremely mordern and a business centre contributing to around 27 percent of China’s GDP back in the 90’s.However China has digressed from its promises and is forcibly dissolving the autonomy of Hong Kong before 2047 as today it contributes mere 3 percent of GDP. In addition to this the CCP has a direct control of Hong Kong government and executing legislations primary reason being the majority in the the parliament comprises of Chinese benefited traders, buisnessman etc. China has pushed in highly controversial legislation notable amongst them is a legislation making it compulsory to stand for Chinese National Anthem. Another controversial legislation is extradition laws to Taiwan . However thpe most blatant violation of the autonomy of Hong Kong are the newly drafted National security Laws which curb the fundamental rights which were previously guaranteed and give legal impunity to target protesters as terrorist or separatist eliments

China also has made claims over the territory of Taiwan which historically was a part of China yet today it is an sovereign and a independent Island nation. Taiwan has its own millitary and is actively supported by US. China is upping its ante over the territory as a member of the top brass of Army recently called for invasion of Taiwan by sea further escalating the conflict. Apart from this China is also rapidly involved in territorial blitzkrieg in the South China Sea. China has deployed missiles and has created airstrips in the disputed areas.

MANEAUVERING INDIA TO A DIFFERENT APPROACH

WHY ELEPHANT HAS TO BE MORE PROACTIVE IN LOOKING AT ITS OWN INTERESTS

Geopolitics is pretty much like a test match there are moments of unpredictability yet a sound foreign policy is the one which can steer out of crisis and expand its influence base. China has its hostility towards India yet its very fascinating that both the nation’s have a trade volume of more than 100 billion dollars with balance of payment inclined towards China. And at the same time both the nations have active diplomatic engagement at the highest level with both the leaders meeting very recently in October 2019 in Chennai. There is no shame in accepting the fact China has greater capability both economically and technologically. But we cannot let this reality become a factor allowing China to dictate terms and bully us. We have to stand up for our priorities. Bilaterally the first priority has to be once it for all solving the boundary issue. This will prevent perceptional transgressions by the Chinese. Simultaneously India has to reduce the trade deficit with China which currently stands at around 100 billion dollars. China has extensively increased its influence in India’s neighbors. It is heavily investing in the SAARC region and is extending line of credit across the region. China BRI is an ambitious project which theoretically is an attempt by CCP to improve connectivity in the region. Yet it primary fulfills Chinas strategic objectives consider this China established CPEC in Pakistan as a part of BRI which according to Pakistan will improve its infrastructure and make it an epicentre of economic activity. However it a well crafted debt trap. To further explain consider China pumps in 20 million to build in roads, bridges and hydropower resources in a particular region of Pakistan. Now the labor is primarily imported from China thus saves labor cost thus no employment for locals. Now the money pumped up is credit not investment which means Pakistan has to return 20 million with a defined rate of interest to China. China is influencing governments across the region take Nepal for example. Nepal has been a close ally of India for a long time yet the present communist government in Nepal published political maps showing Indian territories of lipulekh, limpiyadhura as there part. Likewise China is building dams and roads in POK and providing strategic equipment and technology to Pakistan. In a recent encounter which took place in kashmir China based pistols were recovered which explains the gravity of the situation. China is also key stakeholder in Afghan peace process and is actively supporting Taliban a Pakistani ally. To establish footprint in this region. China’s hostility towards India can be also understood by the fact that it has been actively blocking India’s citizenship in Nuclear’s supplier Group and permanent membership of UNSC. Through all of this we can analyse the fact that China is actively showing it’s hostility towards India. All of this is enough for us to change our scared approach towards China. India can actively utilize the current situation by remaining non alligned. With the greater chorus growing against China India can explore its options in the South China Sea. Likewise India can extend its informal support to territories including Hong Kong, Tibet, Taiwan. US has imposed heavy restrictions on China including even going to the extent of recognizing Tibet as a free country. We can utilize this opportunity. It is imperative to symbolise that India isn’t scared of China and will go Tit for Tat . Good diplomatic relations are mutually beneficial for both India and China. However one cannot be two faced while negotiating on the dialogue table.

TRANS MUTATING KASHMIR .WHY IS THE SITUATION ESCALATING

TEMPERS HAVE REALLY FLARED UP SINCE EASING OF RESTRICTIONS IN KASHMIR.SIMULTANEOUSLY ATTEMPTS ARE BEING MADE TO INSTIGATE LAW AND ORDER PROBLEMS AND ALSO TO RAMP UP TERRORIST RECRUITMENT

PUSHING THE VALLEY TO THE BRINK

Humanity is engaged in a deadly battle against an invisible enemy. The Enemy so lethal that it has literally pushed the boundaries and has made us all forget are petty fights. The whole world today is in a state of Lock down and with healthcare systems collapsing the priorities of the policymakers have changed drastically. The United Nations chief Antinio Guitteras has urged countries across the world to establish ceasefire in all the fault lines across the world and also to unite against this global pandemic.Yet even in such grim times India is fighting an exceptional enemy which since independence has been a constant source of pain. The Pakistani Deep State is utilizing these extraordinary circumstances to push the territory of Kashmir on the edge.Since 5th August the Union Territory of Kashmir has witnessed one of the most peaceful times in its history. This can be largely credited to strict restrictions put in place by the authorities with the real game changer being taking down Internet and broadband services in the valley .The step had largely resulted in a major communications breakdown across different militant cadres and there handlers sitting across the border. These steps had a massive impact on recruitment as local recruitment level came down by only 5 youth joining militancy per month whereas before 5th August it was more than 14.This largely replicated the inability of Pakistan to create a crisis in Kashmir.Yet today we face a different situation and likely more grievous one.

SYMBOLISM FROM HANDWARA

HANDWARA HAS CHANGED THE DYNAMICS IN VALLEY. IT HAS FURTHER STRENGTHENED THE INTUITION THAT THIS SUMMER COULD BE MORE BLOODIER FOR KASHMIR

It is a conventional estimate that from the start of April infiltration increases in Kashmir largely being credited to the melting of snow along the line of control making it easier for militants to ingress in Kashmir. This puts a greater load on the Anti Infiltration grid active along the line of control . As I clearly mentioned that due to the extraordinary situation the country is involved in the threat level is far from what it was conventionally.Pakistan is increasing the intensity of infiltration and among it what is a greater cause of concern that Jaish cadres specially being trained in Afghanistan are being diverted to Kashmir .Within the hinterland the situation is rapidly escalating . Pakistan has changed its tactics in the valley. It has propped up two new militant outfits The Resistance Front and JKGF(Jammu Kashmir Ghaznawi Front). Both are under the supervision of LET. Intelligence officials have explained the rational behind this move stating that Pakistan is under strict FATF restrictions on terror funding.Hence these two outfits will give it an cover as these will be interpreted as an indigenous resistance fronts. The timing is also perfect as India revoked the autonomy of the region thus providing an opportunity for indigenous push back to this move coinciding with Pakistani global propaganda. Another interesting aspect of this move is an attempt to internationalize the issue. The names of these two groups do away with the conventional arabic roots which have largely represented the Islamic fundamentalist element of Kashmir . The Islamic Universalism in Kashmir has been the brainchild of Pakistan and thus it has been largely criticized across the diplomatic circles. These names would create a perception that the issue has nothing to do with religion rather it is a radical freedom struggle. TRF is trying to establish itself in Kashmir the recent attack in Handwara cements the fact that its operating style is ambush. Two militants were eliminated in Handwara among it the most significant elimination was of a Pakistani militant Haider Ali the right hand of Zakir Musa. The Martyrdom of Colonel Ashutosh clearly signifies that attempts are being made to carry out terror attacks regularly across Kashmir to specifically target security forces who are largely involved in tackling COVID-19 in hinterland.A greater question which lies ahead is whether it is the correct time to ease restrictions in the valley.

RIYAZ NAIKOO .WHAT WE LEARNED AND WHAT LIES AHEAD?

GLORIFICATION OF HIS DEATH HAS LEAD TO GREATER INDUCTION OF RADICALIZATION.

On 8th may 2020 the most notorious and maybe the last commander of Hizbul Mujahideen active in Kashmir for the past 8 years was eliminated in Beighpora in a joint operation of Indian Army,CRPF and JKP. He went by the name of Riyaz Naikoo. He was on the run for quite sometime. Riyaz was involved in drug peddaling across the country and the money generated from the same served as a major source of funding for Hizbul to carry out attacks in Kashmir. Riyaz was also involved in killings of non Kashmiri labor as well as abductions of various police personnel . At the same time what made him extremely dangerous was the fact that he was very active on social media and had lured the youth to join militancy. He had previously escaped encounter sites due to active support of Local population. After he was eliminated there was heavy stone pelting on the security forces near the encounter site .Yet the situation was actively defused by the authorities. Immediately internet restrictions were put in place across Kashmir thus preventing mobilization of large crowds. Another decision which was taken by the MHA was not handing over the bodies of eliminated militants. The rational behind it was that crowds which accumulate in funeral of such militants act as a hot spot of catalyzing militancy in valley.Yet another dangerous and unfortunate aspect was glorifying of the militant as a Mathematics teacher to humanise him .This was largely done by Indian media many even went to the extent of terming him a victim of the so called ‘humilation’ done by army. Everytime a militant is eliminated several media houses jump to give you the humane background of the militant so as to create a feeling of sympathy. These are blatant attempts to create national security threats for the country. Romanticizing militants has been one of the major reason why stringent security measures were put in place to prevent a situation like 2016.Elimination of Riyaz is a major blow to the structure of Hizbul in Kashmir which was not only facing a cash crunch but also a structural crisis since the internal disruptions in 2016. The Indian Army has been successfully targeting A++ level militants which has caused major absence in terrorist leadership. Now a major challenge is to prevent local recruitment in the name of Naikoo post his death and to prevent what had happened after the death of Burhan Wani.

ACCELERATING TO ALL OUT OFFENCE

Elimination of HM commander is a big win for our forces yet it is essential to understand that the solution cannot be derived from just elimination of terrorists. The root cause of this problem exists in Pakistan. Our response has to be two front. The government must focus on de -radicalization in Kashmir two prevent youth taking up arms. This can be done by introducing religious moderation but it has to happen on a very large scale. Another solution lies in hammering of Pakistan both internally and along the LOC. See until unless the deep state will not feel the pain nothing would change. These militants are like cannon fodder for the Pakistan Army.So the real enemy is basically the ones pulling all the strings .We can covertly support the internal insurgencies in Pakistan and make it a national policy to support them.Once we transform our capacity optimization from responding to attacks to pro actively destroying origin of the threats.Pakistan would automatically find it expensive to carry out such covert ops.You can only retaliate to death by thousand cuts theory by giving thousand and one cuts to the enemy.Once we do it the groups on hinterland are to entangled in internal disputes that they will breakdown.

THE UNHOLY JAMAAT. MATE IT’S NOT ABOUT ISLAM BUT LARGELY ABOUT COMMON SENSE.

TABLEEGI JAMAAT HAS BEEN THE TALK OF THE TOWN ACROSS SOUTH ASIA IN THIS CURRENT MEDICAL CRISIS

INTRODUCTION

The whole world today is fighting an invisible enemy. An enemy so lethal that even the most developed countries who used to bolster about there healthcare facilities and quality of life have no option available other than to wait for the storm to pass by. Yet amidst all of this fascinatingly India stands in a way better position and till now could have easily contained the transmission of corona if it was not for the Markaz cluster transmission explosion. When the authorities were strictly making the citizens follow social distancing norms a massive gathering of more than 90000 had assembled in Nizammudin Markaz as part of their annual congregation. This was in spite of the fact the Delhi government and Central government had issued a restrictions against any form of religious or political gathering. However what was more hazardous was the fact that the Jamati’s who were tested positive traveled to different parts of the county from Kashmir to down south and Assam to Arunachal Pradesh .Thus establishing a chain of transmission across the country. However the big picture which we have to analyse is the role of religion and religious teachers at a time of humanitarian crisis or does all of this reeks of a greater conspiracy against India.

CONNECTING THE DOTS

In the past few days I have seen many people connecting the Jamaat issue with Islamophobia. You might have been termed communal if you would have criticized the Jammat. However one thing which is extremely important to clarify is the fact that it has nothing to do with Islam. Rather it deals with the callousness and ignorance of an organisation and a stubborn religious leader whose influence has created havoc across the country. It is simply treason at a time when the humanity is fighting against a bio hazard .This blunder has caused major fatalities across the region . And even if this would have taken in a temple or a church the anger would have been the same.If the masses were Islamophobic then why was Kanika Kapoor criticized by the same.

Maulana Saad

Before commenting about the core issue it is imperative to understand the Jamaat . Tableegi Jamaat is an organisation which was established to encourage people to follow Islam as it used to be during the times of Prophet Mohammad. The Jamaat was founded by Mohammad Illyas at a time when the Muslim political hegemony was collapsing in India. While the organisation terms itself as a peaceful organisation yet many countries have banned the organisation as the termed the organisations orthodox ideology as extremist. The organisation have direct links with the Deobandi movement and many of its followers have been actively involved terror related incidents. One of the recent examples being Rizwaan Farook. The French intelligence even went to the extent of calling it an ‘Antechamber of extremism’.In a nutshell the organisation may not be as moral as it portrays itself to be.

WHY CRITICISM ?

Maulana Saad the head or the regulator of the organisation termed Corona as a conspiracy against Muslims and told the followers that at this time only way they can save there lives is by praying to the almighty in the mosque and even if they are sick they should remain at mosque and die here only. This level of ignorance of the head of an extremely influential organisation proved to be very costly and its not just India but large congregations have been held in some neighboring countries around the same time. After the incident took place many Jamaatis who were in contact with corona positive fled to different parts of the country. In spite of regular requests by the authorities many are still hiding across the country further increasing the chain of transmission. The situation is so bad that the Himachal Police invoked murder charges upon any Jamaati hiding in the state . The traversing of Jamatis have trans mutated the situation and further escalated the curve in India. Apart from there have been many incidents of misbehavior by the quarantined individuals associated with the organisation in isolation centers.

THE GODFATHER

Statistically till now 30 percent of cases across the country are linked to Jamaat. In Delhi the National Capital around 65 percent of cases are linked to Markaz. In states which were initially corona free had a major influx of cases due to traversal of individuals. So just think about the position India would have been if it would have not been for this Markaz super spread. However there are two important things which raises eyebrows.

1. FUNDING OF THE PROGRAM AND VISA

The enforcement directorate has filed charges of Hawala against Maulana Saad . Before the congregation there was a large amount which was transferred in Jamaats account from unverified sources.Which very clearly establishes the fact that there were external powers who were stimulating this amount. It also raises questions about the fact whether Jamaat intentionally spreaded this virus as a part of controversy. Apart from this questions have also been raised regarding approval of tourist visas by MHA to foreigners. The MHA has also blacklisted around 900 foreigners who participated in the event.

THE ROHINGYA LINK

One of the most surprising findings have been that many Rohingyas also participated in the congregation and not just that they also visited Shaheen bagh. In 2017 Joint Secretary of MHA issued an advisory where illegally immigrating Rohingyas were termed as a national security threats. Rohingya muslims had to flee Mayanmar after the Mayanmar Army and Buddhists burned there homes due to religious tensions in the region.Thereafter ARSA was created which has been operating in Arakan region of Mayanmar .However what increases threat level is the fact that the involvement of Rohingyas with Jamaat might meen that the Rohingyas living in India are being targeted for recruitment. At the same time the concern of spread remains the same.

CONCLUSION

THE FRONTLINE

I once again highlight the title as it is really not about targeting a particular religion but we have to talk about the fact that such nefarious elements are hurting our fight against COVID – 19. In spite of whatever happened India still sits in a better position as compared to the world. We are in a position to contain this pandemic .However it is imperative that such incidents are not repeated now and we have to deal with the hiding Jamatis harshly. Yet the truth awaiting us regarding this incident might be more shocking however its important to wait for the investigation to get completed

IS INDIA IMPLEMENTING ISRAEL’S IRON FIST POLICY IN KASHMIR.CAN STAUNCH ZIONISM COUNTER WAHABISM

BOTH PALESTINE AND KASHMIR ARE VICTIMS OF RELIGIOUS RADICALISATION. TO A LARGER EXTENT THERE ARE WIDE RANGE OF SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE CONFLICTS

CONGRUENCE

A strategic Pakistan thinker made a very interesting observation that the present Indian regime is following Israel doctrine to solve Kashmir issue.According to him India is trying to isolate Kashmir in every way possible and change the demographics of the region to suppress separatism.Initiation of this process was done on 5th August when India stripped Kashmir of its special status. However what really is the Israel doctrine and will it bear any fruits in the most dangerous place on earth. To understand this it is imperative to understand the conflict.

ISRAEL AND PALESTINE.ORIGINS OF THE CONFLICT

CHRONOLOGY

Jews are the most persecuted community in history.Middle east as we know today was ruled by Ottoman empire in early 1900’s .After world war 1 Jews realized that Judaism was not just a religion but a nationality .Hence Zionism as an ideology was established which demanded a separate homeland for Jews .Soon Jews started immigrating in middle east however this led to a wave of rage among the native Arabs. The British regulated immigration in Palestine however after the Holocaust there was a major influx of Jews in Palestine which caused violent confrontations between Jews and Arabs. In 1947 UN came with a resolution of dividing Palestine into two states of Arab control and Jewish control(Israel). The Idea was completely rejected by neighboring countries which themselves were newly Independent. So in 1947 they attacked Israel for unification of Palestine. The new state of Israel won the war and expanded its boundaries violating the UN resolution. Then again in 1967 the neighboring countries attacked Israel and again Israel came out as a comprehensive winner. But this time Israel took control of Golan heights in Syria and Gaza strip. The Palestinian area was shrunk to almost nothing with both West Bank and Gaza strip under Israel’s occupation. This lead to creation of extremist outfits like Hamas and PLO.These organisations were externally supported and carried out fidayeen attacks against Israeli’s with a notable mention being 1972 Munich Olympics massacre.Responding to these threats Israeli intelligence organisation Mossad infiltrated Hamas and PLO networks across the world and eliminated all individuals linked to the attacks.Israel carried out preemptive airstrikes on Iranian Nuclear sites. Two intifada’s were carried out in Palestine which resulted in high casualties on Palestinian side.In 2005 Israel left GAZA and the control was passed to Hamas.Strategically Israel has built walls across the site to regulate and prohibit any movement. And at the same time more Israeli settlers are moving in west bank due to cheap housing .Hence due to extensive control of Palestinians the conflict still rages on without any conclusion in site.

LINKS IN KASHMIR.

ISRAEL IN KASHMIR

MOSSAD HAS BEEN ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN KASHMIR IN SUPPORTING RAW FOR CLANDESTINE OP.

India initially didn’t accept Israel as an independent sovereign nation however steadily India started establishing diplomatic relations .When RAW was established RN Kao established deep covert links between Tel Aviv and New Delhi.Israel had offered help to India in OP Kahuta and was even ready to target Pakistani Nuclear facilities through missiles. In 1990’s when ISI initiated infiltration and militancy in Kashmir many Israeli intelligence officials roamed through the streets of Kashmir as tourists .Intelligence and clandestine operations were carried out by both the organisations and specific inputs were given to the Army to target militancy. Israel has been pretty active in providing intelligence inputs regarding Hawala transmission lines from middle east.At the same time Israel has helped India during 26/11 and Uri attacks. The policy of cross border tactical strikes which India has developed can also be credited to Israel.

BRAINCHILD

POLICY POSTURING

In 2014 when NDA-1 came into power the initial approach was to engage Pakistan in a comprehensive dialogue .PM Modi visited Lahore as a peaceful gesture symbolizing India’s desire for peace .A comprehensive joint statement was released by Pakistani and Indian foreign minister.A Hotline was established and NSA level negotiations were also initiated .However the Deadlock was broken in 2016.The year was an extremely turbulent year for Kashmir. Since the start of the year there were large number of targeted attacks and ambushes on the security forces .Then on 8th July 2016 Burhan wani was eliminated by security forces .After the incident things went out of hand. There was a massive upsurge in infiltration as well as stone pelting related incidents .Massive civilian and military causalities happened as a result of the extensive polarization. All of this culminated into the Uri attacks in which 19 soldiers were martyred. The attack was a tipping point and the security apparatus came to the realization that there is no point engaging with Pakistan and it is imperative to retaliate to make it costly for Terrorist organisations. Then on 29th September Indian Special Forces carried out surgical strikes in POK . The NSA Ajit Doval realized that the first priority is to tackle threats on hinterland. So NSA devised the policy of aggressive cordon and search by the security forces this yielded massive results as 222 militants were killed in 2018 ,217 were killed in 2017 and the casualities of security forces dropped to significant level .OP ALL OUT led to elimination of all the A++ Cadre millitants and broke the backbone of terrorist organisations.Simultaneously NIA was directed to conduct massive crackdowns in Kashmir against Hurriyat and political leaders involved in terror funding this further demotivated terrorist organisations. India employed aggressive Dovalian doctrine as well as the policy of Defensive offence which to a lage extent is derived from Israeli Iron Fist policy. The Balakot airstrikes were another example of change in strategic policy .

THE FINAL SHOWDOWN

The NDA -2 took an historic decision of abrogating Article 370 which specifically meant withdrawing special status which was granted by Union Of India post Independence yet was transient in nature. What it meant was the fact that special provisions which included non validity of Indian constitution, prohibition of buying properties to any outsider in Kashmir etc.In addition to this new domicile laws have been introduced in the region which identifies citizens of state who have been living in Kashmir for more than 15 years and thus reservations of jobs are valid through the same criteria. The government in addition to this are also devising plans to rehabilitate Kashmiri Pandits. Industrialization is one of the key priorities of the government.

NUANCE IN THE ARGUMENT

India is following an hard line Zionist policy to tackle Wahabism in Kashmir. The primary focus is to eliminate militancy in Kashmir and to ensure peace and security in the valley. However India is not an occupying force in the valley. Kashmir willfully acceded to India in 1947 since then the primary focus has to resolve the issue through political dialogue.India has provided political space to organisations like Hurriyat, The concept of resettlement of Pandits could lead to demographic change is an illusion rather it is there right to live peacefully again in there native places.Poitical dialogue has been once again initiated with the formation of 3rd front in Kashmir. The concept of de- radicalization camps is to tackle the problem of massive radicalization which has happened in Kashmir. In all Zionism may be an answer to our problems in kashmir.

When peace comes we may be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our children, but we will not be able to forgive them for forcing us to kill their children”

ASSESING POST BALAKOT SKIRMISH 🇮🇳🇵🇰

BACKGROUND

On 14th february 2019 a SUV carrying IDE rammed into CRPF convoy in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The convoy was moving towards Srinagar and consisted of around 100 vehicles. Due to this attack 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred and is considered to be the most lethal attack on security forces in Kashmir. The responsibility of the attack was claimed by Jaish -e-Mohammad and the militant who executed the operation was the area commander of Jaish Adil ahmed dar alias waqas commando. However the fact which was ascertained by intelligence agencies was the fact that it was impossible for a civilian to have such logistical and technical capability to carry out this attack . The attack was too sophisticated hence it was stimulated by ISI and Pakistan Army. After the attack there was a wave of rage across the country and one thing which was made categorically clear by the political leadership that this attack has to be avenged anyhow and a stern message has to be given to the deep state that if they continue to propagate the policy of bleeding India with 1000 cuts. India will eliminate the threat from where it emanates.

OPERATION BANDAR

MIRAGE 2000 PART OF AVENGER FORMATION

The political leadership made the decision of retaliating through airstrikes and the primary reason was that IAF had  crossed International border last in 1971 hence there was an element of uncertainty and surprise and at the same time airstrikes were more accurate and less risk driven. Balakot was chosen specifically as target due to presence of a major facility comprising of training and accommodation of fidayeen’s. The other targets had dense civilian population while these targets were desolate in a forest. On 26th February late midnight the mirages were scrambled from gwalior after heading towards Kashmir they moved 270 towards Balakot. Using hilly terrain as a cover they ingressed into the international border at the same point of time CAP comprising of AWACS was already in air in Kashmir. As soon as the F16’s detected the movement of mirages SU-30’s were launched at East-West Badin axis towards Bahawalpur. Creating a diversion for mirages. The Mirage dropped SPYDER laser guided bombs on the given co-ordinates and then  turned back hastily accelerating towards IB. By 3:20 pm the aircrafts landed back to the home base successfully carrying out the operation . Bandar was the codeword to be used after the culmination of the operation and was  relayed to PM and COAS. Op bandar was a tactical masterstroke backed by ingenious planning making the enemy completely oblivious of the Op.

“OPERATION SWIFT RETORT”

On 27th February at 0928 hours. IAF radars detected movement of enemy aircraft . A strike package of 26 aircrafts comprising of JF-17, MIRAGE-5 and F-16 violated Indian airspace by entering through primary area Rajouri. There objective was to bomb Indian Army strategic forward assets including oil depos, logistical centres and Army brigade headquarters in Nagrota. Yet as soon as they were detected CAP were activated and Migs were scrambled from Ambala airbase. IAF’s timely action ensured that the strike package was pushed back. During this the enemy engaged Indian aircrafts specifically Su-30 mki . F-16 launched barrages of AMMRAM’s on SU-30’s yet due to it’s super maneuverability it deflected them easily. During this engagement one Mig-21 piloted by wing Commander Abhinandan locked upon an F-16 and launched an R-73 which stuck the aircraft leading to an historic shoot down of an higher generation and better avionics aircraft. However the pilot in the heat of movement had crossed Line of control. By the time he could maneuver back to India he was shot down by a SAM. 2 days later he returned home.

LIES, DECEIT AND THE PROPAGANDA OF SO CALLED SURPRISE

After the engagement Pakistan termed swift retort as an extremely successful operation saying that there strategic objectives was to drop empty payloads to display it’s capabilities however in reality there objectives were thwarted by timely action of IAF leading to dropping empty payloads and hurriedly escaping. It is hilarious for any professional force to declare that just dropping payloads in forests is there strategic objectives.

ISPR BRIEFING OF 27th FEBRUARY THE D-DAY

Pakistan claimed that two aircrafts were shot down and two pilots were taken into custody . Wing Commander Abhinandan was taken into custody from mirpur in POK so the question arises who was the second pilot. Even though Pakistan claimed later that there was only one pilot in there custody however two questions which arise. First being how can be there such a massive miscommunication by forces on ground to the PR of the Pakistan armed forces. It is not possible. Second being why did the locals claim the fact that there was a second pilot landing across the hill to the location of Abhi. No answers have been given till now by Pakistan about the same. Pakistan claimed initially that no F-16 was used for this op however months later it accepted the fact in Sargodha. India provided the piece of AMMRAM recovered in Mamalkot. Yet it was categorically denied by Pakistan. On ground interceptions also describe the fact that the rangers deployed in pok had a conversation about a second guy in there custody. Pakistan further claimed a Su-30 was shot down whose wreckage felled in Kashmir. On Airforce day the Avenger formation was seen blazing in the sky thus proving Pakistan wrong. Also the PM of Pakistan claimed that 2 migs ingressed into Pakistan and were shot down thus contradicting the claim of military. AMMRAM’s are lethal and have homing abilities inspite of jamming. There speeds reach to mach 4 yet inspite of all of this they are not invincible and it was due to the Meneauvrability of Su-30 mki which prevented any damage.

The so called surprise is built on a bunch of lies which nobody really questions in Pakistan due to superiority of military.

THE HERO

RECALIBRATING FUNDAMENTALIST THREAT TO INDIA

AN FUNDAMENTALIST SEAL

REFERENCE POINTS

SRI LANKA BOMBINGS

On 21st April,2019 an IED was set off in Saint Anthony Church .Due to Easter Sunday large number of people had gathered in the church compound .In addition to this a famous hotel and The Kings bury were bombed leading to which 259 people were killed .The pattern of attack was similar to an LTTE style covert attack. In the aftermath of the attack ISIL released a statement claiming that a local ally  National Thoweeth Jamaa’th was responsible for the attacks. The objective was to specifically target Catholics and to seek attention of the west to the fact that they were responsible for the so called oppression of Muslims in Palestine,Afghanistan,Bosnia etc.Another interesting analogy which was established was the fact that they wanted to create caliphate with non-Muslims having no place. The government of Sri Lanka carried out successive raids in different locations which thwarted future attacks.Yet the important highlight of all this was the fact that a week before the attacks Indian security agencies had warned of such bombings in public places specifically church.A memo too was issued regarding the same by police yet it was ignored by the government. An ISIL militant in custody of NIA described a single name Zehran Hashim the head of NTJ was responsible for planning and providing logistical support for the attacks. The militants had covertly been to Tamil Nadu and Kerala .The vacuum which was left after LTTE was defeated and with brainwashing happening on the basis of riots and other events has lead to youth becoming more aligned to covertly supporting such jihad networks. The essence of these attacks was to create fear among a larger target audience. Many considered it as a revenge of Christchurch attacks yet there was no proof to substantiate it.However what is extremely essential to understand is the fact that among south Asians joining ISIL Sri Lankan’s comprised an extremely significant number. All of this establishes the fact that fundamentalist threat is highly relevant in the region

ISJK- A REAL THREAT

The most comprehensive threat to any state in India is to Kashmir. In Kashmir Islamic universality holds prime importance and those were the foundations of influencing youth to join militancy .Understand this in Kashmir all organisations trace there names from Arabic roots like Dukhtarane Millat .The wave of terrorism in Kashmir was generated after the Iranian spring and Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Yet the threat was still suppressed till the expansion of ISIL across the region .The youth started aligning themselves with the ideology of religious violence as a tool of propagating Salafism. In 2016 there was a major split between Ultras and Hurriyat regarding Shariat leading to the establishment of Ansar Ul Ghazwahat Hind. This also provided space to ISIL to expand in kashmir. ISIL established a province ‘Waliyah ul Hind’ in Kashmir. Ishfaq Sofi a militant was the first to be killed by security forces .Even though logistically and in terms of network ISIL is not yet established in the region yet it remains a major threat for the security apparatus as there is growing wave of attraction of youth towards ISIL meaning that the challange is real

The establishment of a “province” in a region where it has nothing resembling actual governance is absurd, but it should not be written off…The world may roll its eyes at these developments (I sure have), but to jihadists in these vulnerable regions, [these] are significant gestures to help lay the groundwork in rebuilding the map of the ISIS’ “Caliphate.” Thus, these regions should be closely watched.

ISIS IN INDIA.WHY IT IS HIGH TIME FOR NSC TO ACT.

Indian Muslims are the least radicalized individuals among the world this can specified in terms of ratio of individuals involved in such activities to the population of Muslims in our country. This is a great thing yet at the same time sustaining this is major challenge for the administration. It is important to understand our vulnerabilities,Because of the large population intelligence agencies like ISI are trying to create fault lines between Hindus and Muslims. It is trying to engineer riots to create a feeling among minorities that India is unsafe for them and to protect themselves they have to pick weapons against the state of India. ISIL has been trying to outsource Muslim youth from India to fight in Syria, However they have been unsuccessful.Hence attempts are being made to unify internal security threats propagating Wahhabi ideology like PFI,SDPI,SIMI and many others to brainwash youth and recruit them to carry out attacks in different parts of India.Attempts have been made in Uttar Pradesh,Dilkhushnagar and various other parts of the country

THAKURGANJ OPERATION

Southern States specifically Kerala are becoming hotbed of ISIL recruitment .Youth from these states are fleeing India to join ISIL this can be credited to massive radicalization happening there and government providing space for such anti state elements to exist in the state. The Central Home ministry has not banned groups promoting radicalization leading to a greater strain for the security agencies to track there movements and take any legal action .ISIL is looking to attract youth by creating rift between religious communities specifically using the vulnerables who might victims of riots etc .

THE KABUL CONNECT

KABUL ATTACKS

Recently a terrorist attack was carried out on Gurudwara Har Rai Sahab a Sikh shrine in Kabul killing 25 Sikhs .The responsibility of the attacks was claimed by ISIL-Khorasan. What was peculiar about the attacks was the fact that a resident of Kerala specifically of padne district was also involved in these attacks. Mohammad Sajid had an arrest warrant issued by NIA in 2016 and an Interpol notice after he went missing. Analyzing the events we can say that the hasty Peace agreement has created a major vacuum and the radicals are now utilizing this .ISIL lost AL-BAGHDADI and lost to coalation forces in Syria yet it is still structurally strong and more relevant now. ISIL is eyeing south asia as a new hotspot for its ideology fulfillment. Kabul attacks are a small example of there capability .It is imperative for security agencies to prepare for a two front threat . A more regressive Taliban and expansion of ISIL. The involvement of an Indian is alarming hence it is important to act in stern manner.
